Maintenance Schedule

We all know that with regular maintenance, your Harley-Davidson will live longer, perform better, and hold its value more efficiently. There is no question about that. However, there are a lot of questions about what “regular maintenance” means.

There are three levels of regular maintenance. Learn more about them below.

How Often Do I Need Which Kind of Service?

Harley-Davidson specifies maintenance requirements as follows:

2003 and Earlier
  • 1,000 Miles – Initial Service
  • 5,000 Miles – Full Service
  • 8,000 Miles – Quick Service
  • 10,000 Miles – Full Service
  • 13,000 Miles – Quick Service
  • 15,000 Miles – Full Service
  • 18,000 Miles – Quick Service
  • 20,000 Miles – Major Service
  • Repeat From 3,000 Mile Interval

2004 and Later

  • 1,000 Miles – Initial Service
  • 5,000 Miles – Full Service
  • 10,000 Miles – Full Service
  • 15,000 Miles – Full Service
  • 20,000 Miles – Major Service
  • Repeat From 3,000 Mile Interval

We strongly recommend that, for most riders, the 2003 and earlier maintenance schedule be followed for ALL year model vehicles.

If you’re worried about the time the maintenance will take, don’t be. Our technicians use the latest diagnostic equipment and can turn around a quick service in about an hour, a full service on most models in about 3 hours, and a major service in a day.
